Piping a Steam Car5/21/2017 Hi Steam Car, Piping A 1914 10HP Stanley Steam Car: Thanks for posting these, confirms I have the 3 tube indicator set a couple of inches too high on our Model 607. Peter Turvey Photos posted in Technical articles Kelly Williams , Just wanted to point out that for best drive-ability, water level should be carried as high in the boiler as possible without priming. What actually drives the car is not so much the steam that sits above the water level - that is a small amount which is quickly used up. Rather, it's the steam that flashes up from the high-temperature, high-pressure water, as soon as the steam on top is used and the pressure drops a little. The more high-temperature, high-pressure water you carry, the more steam will be quickly available to you.
