Our family visited Colburn Benson and his family on their farm in Concord.Massachusetts. My grandfather Carl Larsen.became friends with Mr. Benson on the voyage from Norway. We picked strawberries and asparagus and had coffee and donuts in their kitchen. I would drop by in Concord throughout the years to visit Colburn who was an extremely interesting person. I will miss him.

Hello, I was trying to find out what happened to one of my Bugatti cars, a blue Type 37 two-seater which Coburn Benson took over from me in 1960, and I ran across your article. Coburn was a very capable mechanic who owned a 1916 Rolls Royce Silver Ghost which he timed by ear and he repaired my vintage Bugattis during a two-year period from 1958-1960. I knew him well, sorry to hear that he passed a few years ago.

John, I am doing research on a Bugatti Type 37 and would like to talk with you about your car. I have information that the car I am researching was once owned by Coburn Benson. You can reach me at [email protected].

I would hang out at the bike shop in Haverhill, MA during 1967-69. Always stopping in when home on leave from the Air Force. I called Ben back in 2001 and left a message on his phone in Concord. He told me he had sold his home and was moving to ME. He had just stopped by to get some last things out of the house and have the phone disconnected. I had intended to stop and see him in Limerick on the 5th of October without knowing where he lived or that he had passed in July. He was the most knowledgeable guys I knew. RIP
