It has a very unusual, aluminum, fabric covered body, with good leather upholstery, wire wheels with good tires and new top material. Price is $80,000 which is somewhat negotiable because there is a quantity of spare parts available to go with the car. Call Fran Guldenbrein phone America 707-644-2638 for more particulars. Mason Steam Car for sale5/22/2017 Prof. Wendell Mason’s “Mason Steamer”
Created from a 1941 Graham Hollywood (a rare Cord bodied car with modified hood and radiator) in the ‘50’s & ‘60’s by Prof. Wendell Mason. He wrote articles about it for SACA at the time. It uses a 20HP Stanley engine mounted to a Columbia 2 speed axle, with a neutral for fire-up. A gun fired monotube boiler fires from cold to #600 in 3 1/2 minutes, from the drivers seat. Cleaver controls and a silent three cylinder water pump result in a very good running car. Has completed 2 steam car tours in addition to much local driving. Climbs steep hills well in low gear and cruises at 40 to 50 mph on level in high. Approx. 4,000 miles since cosmetic restoration, tires, and brakes in 2000. Located near Harrisburg, PA. $49,900 includes a brand new piston valve cylinder block kit. Charlie Johnson, stanleys@ptd.net, phone America 717-432-4738. $35,000 obo Bob, 401-741- 2267, RI; America The Lykamobile MK2 Steam Car5/3/2017 The Lykamobile Steamer Series 2-Avaliable from Steam Traction World Lyka a Lot There's lot's of love for our Lykamobile - The original Lykamobile Steamer (Series 1) proved to be very popular with sixty five selling worldwide. The Lykamobile has been 'out of production' with a 5 year break in manufacturing and is, only now, being re-introduced due to customer requests. This brand new batch will be limited to only thirty across the globe with production starting in July 2016 - or sooner once ten confirmed orders are achieved. We drove our Series 1 Lykamobile from John O Groats to Lands End - to prove the build quality, reliability and raise heaps of cash for charity too! The Lykamobile Steamer Series 2 will have a number of improvements - This will include much ‘beefier’ valve gear (beefier is a technical term!), valve gear running on bearings, use of oil impregnated bushes throughout and stronger leaf springs. We are also considering changing the electrical water managing system gauge system and redesigning the boiler so it is more like a Stanley Steam Car. The Lykamobile Steamer Series 2 is available as a series of self assembly kits and delivered at the rate of one kit per month over a twenty four month period. Without even advertising it, at this stage, we have already received NINE deposits and anticipate this batch to sell out quickly. The initial ten orders can take advantage of a 'early bird' discount. To qualify for this offer simply be one of the first ten customers to secure one of this batch and you will save £1,756 on the advertised list price. Further pricing as follows. Deposit: £823 (normally £995) Kits 1 - 24: £549 (normally £615) Total price: £13999 (normally £15755 saving £1756) All we are asking at this moment in time is a holding deposit of £195. This then secures the special offer price for you. The balance of the deposit payment of £628 will only be required when we confirm we have received ten firm orders and issue you with a commence date. All the above prices include VAT at 20% but excludes delivery. UK mainland delivery is fully insured by next day courier and charged at £14.95 per kit. Please contact Steam Traction World for delivery pricing outside of mainland UK. Stanley Steamer 7 passenger touring 740B 1922 for sale
This is one of the best running Stanley Steamers around. When warmed up this car can maintain over 50 mph on level ground. Most of the time you can run 75 miles on a tank of water. The boiler has 821 tubes as opposed to the 670+/- normally in a 24 inch boiler. The steaming system has four thermocouples installed to tell how the car is steaming. One reads the water temperature coming out of the water tank. One reads the water temperature after the water comes out of the feed-water heater and one reads the steam temperature as it goes to the steam chest on the engine and a forth one reads the steam exhaust temperature as it comes out of the engine. This is an all original car that was restored in 1996-1997. Restoration included taking out a few dents and repainting the body, fenders and skirts. All new leather tufted upholstery and California top. Having a California top the inside even has a head liner. The car also has new side curtains. This rare vehicle was constructed by the Milwaukee Automobile Company early in 1901. It is the “Milwaukee Racer” purpose built for Dr. J. G. Lovell of Chicago and designed by the Company’s Chicago agent, Frank. P. Illsley, then to be exhibited at the first Chicago Auto Show in March 1901. Little has been found of an active racing history, except for the possibility of the event at Joliet in the October of 1901. At some stage the vehicle was extensively modified. A new body style was mounted on running gear lengthened by 18 inches and the boiler was moved to the front under a bonnet style arrangement. There is no firm evidence as to when this was done, but features of the construction, fittings and footsteps suggest that it might have been done by the factory before the Company failed in May 1902. It was certainly in this form in 1954 when restored by a Mr. Ray Salentine of Waukesha Wisconsin and the current boiler and water tank almost certainly date from this period. Verbal history from Mr, Salentine’s son indicates that his father made no significant structural changes and that the modified construction probably dates back to at least the mid 1930s. It is thought that the vehicle was sold in the 1960s/70s to a new home in Beloit (near Chicago) and then nothing is known of the history until it reappears at the AutoMuseum in Ladenburg, Germany in 2001. The current owner purchased the vehicle in the UK in the spring of 2005 and after a two year period of research, it has been restored to return it to the original design of 1901. There is a large amount of research and information with the car including copies of period photographs of what is believed to be this actual car. The current owner has gone to extreme lengths to meticulously research each detail of the car to get it right, and all of this effort is laid out and fully illustrated for any prospective owner to view. This and 60 other classic cars will be sold at auction, on March 4th at Allington, Chippenham, Wiltshire SN14 6LJ. Estimate £40,000 All inquiries to 01249 444544. So - this is a "Likamobile" steam car, Steam Traction World's take on the original 1900-era "Locomobile", externally period but with discrete updating inside resulting in a highly drive-able car that goes well. Started in 2008 and first registered for the road in 2012, this one has been particularly well put together, nicely detailed and superbly finished, with a remodeled body (complete with prototypical "louvers") coach painted by brush and hand lined. Many parts have been nickel plated, which gives a rather nice veteran feel.
