Most of them are the 2 seater variety but there were 4 seaters produced as well, these are extremely rare. The surrey is style number 5 and one of the most handsome of the type. Designed by FE & FO Stanley, the Locomobile company produced steam vehicles until 1902, when they switched to internal combustion. I've spent 12 years restoring this car from components I purchased from an elderly gentleman in Kansas who had realised he wouldn't get around to it. September 1901 this car was produced as dated by the Western Australian veteran Car Club and has a Don Bourdon 17 1/2 inch boiler, it uses 98 octane fuel through the burner which heats the water to 200psi, from here it is led through the throttle and super-heater to the twin reciprocating pistons. the power (8 power strokes per 2 crank revolutions) is transmitted via a 5/8 link chain to the dual drum differential and then to the rear wheels. All steam, water, air and fuel equipment is new and in excellent order. the steam automatic (shuts fuel at 210psi) is new from Stanley Steam Supplies, as is the throttle. Heaps of photos, video, information, history and material available. Click here for more information Car located in Australia 1910 Stanley Model 60 Runabout for sale7/17/2019
The Stanley occupies a mythical place in early automotive history and is arguably the most famous of the era’s steam-powered cars. For 1910, the nimble and quick 10 hp Stanleys were a bargain at $850. For over 70 years and three generations, this astonishingly original Stanley Runabout was a family favorite in the esteemed Fred Buess collection. It was purchased in Glendale, California in 1937 from a fellow who, despite the car’s fine condition, was fearful of the Stanley’s boiler pressure. A lifelong aficionado of steam technology, Mr. Buess was among the 17 founding members of the Horseless Carriage Club of America, and this Stanley was the car with which he attended most of the club meets between 1937 and 1946. In 1947, the Runabout took its place, among six other Stanleys, on static display in the collection. The current owner acquired this steamer from the Buess family in 2010, and Fred A. Buess Jr. assisted in returning the steamer to working order. Although the seat leather and top fabric have deteriorated some over the years, overall the car is presentable to enjoy and display. It is extremely rare that an unrestored Stanley that has been so lovingly preserved comes to market, and it would be a particular prize for any steam devotee. Estimate-$140,000-180,000 USD Offered without reserve at Gooding & Company Pebble Beach Auction For more information click here Four owners from new Chassis no. 146 Engine no. 219 According to the Stanley register, this 1902 Stanley is the eighth oldest example of the marque and one of only five short front, 70" wheelbase cars to survive. The car still has the original body tag and the serial number stampings can be easily seen in the wooden body. They're only original once! $ 89500,00 USD Click here for more details Grout information wanted2/28/2019 Do you know of any Grouts recently arriving in Europe? The Packard brothers a 100 years ago use to collect steam. The family had Stanleys and 2 Grouts. The son of one of the brothers is in his 90s now and the family sold the bigger, better Grout some years ago. I have the chassis to the smaller 1903 Model J they sold me. I believe my car was a parts donor to the bigger Grout even though they were different models. I think both Grouts share parts to each others car and I hope to talk with the new owner. Would you know the new owner of the other Grout? Thank you.

Leather gatering is mostly on all springs. New (need some cleaning) universal tires. Wheels are solid but need paint. A couple valves and small items not present on firewall, but are available items. Believed to be low miles, engine sounds great (see YouTube video). Chassis 22277 donated its body to another touring car (740B on the tag) and was destined to become a "Steel Frame Mountain Wagon" by a previous owner, but never came to be. It was then bought by myself and mated to this correct Stanley 7 Passenger Sedan Body. All sheet metal is there and solid. The body will need wood work and interior. Rear seat is not present. I have jump seats that can be used. Old boiler had a tube removed. It it welcome to come along with the sale or leave it (should have a new boiler). 30HP boiler potentially available with the car for an addition. Condenser included not shown in place. The chassis will be an easy restore, the body will need work but it's very straight and all the metal is there. Just a few small cracks, but basically all complete. Would make a great, big, majestic Steamer when restored. Please feel free to contact me to discuss. $32,500 USD Jared Schoenly - Spring City Steam Works Tel: 610-301-2797 Email: jschoenly@gmail.com 1919 Stanley 735b for sale11/22/2018 10% into a true restoration, this sweet car was not finished by it's owner due to having so much fun with a running steam car. As a 7 yr old kid, watching my father bring this car home to be put back into how it was originally built, I looked forward to seeing the car completed because the car could carry our whole family not just two individuals. The frame is done and complete; all tanks completed and mounted under frame; front springs completed and mounted; front axle done with completed wheels and new tires mounted to axle and to frame. The rear axle, wheels and new tires are complete and all mounted, but, Not mounted to frame. The next step in restoration would be the three pumps, so the rear axle can be mounted. This next step completed makes it so much easier to move the car around. Currently the car has the body and many parts just sitting on top of the frame for lack of space. All the parts for the car are present, though parts to be made new of course would be the boiler and all the plumbing; the wood inside the body; the upholstery; and the convertible top. All four fenders have been restored and painted. The car has been in the shop for the last 50 years but no work has been done for 18 years. There is a dating certificate from the London Science Museum and I have made initial enquiries re a formal VCC dating certificate but this will be something for the new owner to take forward Valid Lloyds boiler certificate and ready to go - totally 'on the match'! More smiles per gallon than anything else I've ever owned! Worth considerably more with the VCC dating process all completed and a Brighton run under her belt Sale of a half share considered to the right person as I would love to see the vision through Reason for sale - as a lifelong classic car enthusiast my modest collection has grown out of control a little, at 15 cars and 21 bikes I spend all my time chasing MoT dates and keeping batteries charged, and not enough actually enjoying quality time with them. I've therefore decided to reduce the numbers to 6 cars and 6 bikes, which will be much more manageable. As I love them all it's a bit like choosing between your children - impossible - so I'm listing everything and whatever 6 of each are left I'll keep - it's as simple as that. All my vehicles are accurately described and I hope will go to a good home - this is more important to me than extracting the last few quid from a sale, and I've no interest in selling anyone anything that isn't right for them - come and have a look and if you like what you see then great. Everything is ONO - we all love a deal! Please please please no timewasters though, if you need to ask your Mum or borrow the money from your cousin, please do so first! Tested with pressure air. Engine turns. Very rare. £POA Contact-Viklit Graae Jørgensen Location:DENMARK Phone-:(+45) 45 42 52 68 / (+45) 21 27 45 01 Email:Viklit@viklit.dk A rare opportunity to own a very unique piece of model engineering. This is a fully operational, 1:2 scale replica of the famous Stanley Steam car 4 seater. It was built in the Netherlands and comes with extensive images of the build and boiler drawings (present but in Dutch). Due to being from the Netherlands, the boiler has no tests or other paper work, so in the first instance we would seek to sell the car 'as seen', however we could discuss the options with you for testing. The car itself is gas fired and is designed to allow the driver to sit on the perch on top of the front seats. The wheels are wooden and the body has been finished to a high standard to produce a very pretty, authentic little steam car. There are a few small points of damage to the paint but only wear and tear and nothing which takes away from its character. It comes with a pair of nice size brass, electric headlamps for the front and a removable windscreen; this is all presented in a custom box which comes with the car. The water tank is under the driver seat with the gas under the rear seat and the boiler under the bonnet. The engine itself is a double action piston located under the rear of the car all mounted on a fully sprung chassis. Fitted is also a very entertaining hooter horn. It is highly recommended that you arrange to view this car so you can get a feel for the scale of it and whether it would be suitable for you to drive. £8,495.00 For more information or to book a test steam, please speak to Sean at Berrybrook Steam on 01392 833301. 1903 Stanley Model C For Sale11/11/2017 1903 Stanley Steamer Model C. We purchased it last september after it had been in storage for a few years. We have done a lot of work to this car including: a new vaporiser coil, added a whistle, new water gauage seals, and had the gas tank fully cleaned inside. It is a very interesting and rare car with a neat backstory. It has accessories such as 1919 licence plates, a bristol derr electric water gauage, a 30hp Don Bourdon boiler, blazick jets, and a packard pilot. It steams very quickly, the siphon works, it seldom gets a tube fire and the engine is smooth. Only items needed to be corrected until it can be toured: thewaer pumps need to be machined as they are worn out inside and the piston packing needs to be redone. These small fixes wil lenable it to be a reliable, rare, and facinating steam car. We have to many projects right now are would like to find this car a fellow steam enthusiast to be its new owner.
