The 2020 WESES Great Steam Engine Rally is the 65th annual event organised by the West of England Steam Engine Society. The show is very much a family event. As well as Steam Engines including Steam cars, Fun Fair, Vintage Vehicles, Model and Craft displays, there is everything to entertain all the family around the show. Something to entertain all the family, wide variety of events and displays continuously from 10am to 5pm on all 3 days. An added attraction this year will be the Commemorative Road Run on Thursday 13th August, including the famous Engine Hill at Porthtowan. Having been The Steam Car Secretary for many years I am hoping on this special anniversary to have the best steam car display in the society’s 65 year history. A White steam car attended the first rally back in 1955! I therefore have the pleasure to invite you and your steam car to this event. Exhibitors can stay on the site at no cost next to their cars from Sunday 9th till Monday 17th August so you can explore Cornwall outside of the rally days. I am proposing an optional trip out on the Thursday to take part in the famous Alan Thomas Memorial Road Run at Engine Hill Porthtowan following a wide range of traction engines up the scenic coastal hill. The route will be approx. 50 miles leaving the Showground and heading to Porthtowan on the Atlantic coast and returning to Falmouth on the South coast. I have an expenses budget and would be able to offer you something towards you travelling costs. Please see our website at www.weses.co.uk or Facebook page for more information about the rally. The Great Dorset Steam Fair falls two weeks after our rally rather than the usual one which will make things more practical if you wish to attend both events. If you have been before it would be great to have your support once more or if you would like to discuss the arrangements, please do get in touch.
