Free Exhibit House8/1/2016 Exhibit Open House
Marshall Steam Museum at Auburn Heights Preserve Tuesday, August 2, 7 pm Admission: Free! Our small museum is doing big things. Join us for a behind-the-scenes look at the making of our newest exhibit: Letting Off Steam: The Stanley Legacy This program is partially funded by a grant from the Delaware Humanities Forum, a state program of the National Endowment for the Humanities, and the Joseph Boxler Education Fund From the 1890s through the 1920s, people experimented with a new engineering marvel: the automobile. While the skeptics waited for the fad to pass and the world to return to the civilized ways of the horse and carriage, others looked to a future spent traveling on four wheels. Few companies succeeded, and many failed. This exhibit explores the history of the Stanley Motor Carriage Company, the company that built many of the cars you will find in the Marshall Steam Museum, and the connection between that company and Auburn Heights. This special Evening at the Museum program will be free to the public. In addition to exploring the exhibit, visitors may also enjoy:
*Please note that during this free open house there will be no car or train rides, electric trains, or family activities in the museum. Please join us at our next Steamin' Day on August 7 for these activities!
