Through a bit of research I have brought myself to you,
I am looking at making my motorcycle (see photo) steam powered and would like to have a chat to someone in the know as to whether it is possible or not,
I am looking at the v twin steam engine but I am unsure on boiler size or water tank size that would be needed,

Can you assist or maybe be involved in the project?

This weekend just past, saw the first steaming of the year for my Stanley 726 that I was lucky enough to acquire just a few months ago. Greatly encouraged in the purchase by George Hounslow having spent the New Forest Tour navigating for him on his Porter Steam Car. I am incredibly grateful to George and his parents for then leading the recommission of the car, sorting out a number of jobs associated with wear and tear, as well as preparation and arranging a hydraulic and steam boiler test. A number of safety improvements/replacement parts, not to mention extremely good tuition in maintenance, management and driving! After many weekends work from myself but 10x more from George, we had a very successful 3 days cruising around Wiltshire in some pretty challenging terrain at times. The Stanley performed faultlessly and I really couldn't be happier with it! Here's to a busy 2020!

Unfortunately the weather has been rotten and the roads are filthy so the car got quite dirty, the photo below was taken Sunday morning. However, Sunday afternoon was spent in the garage cleaning for a few hours!

I need a chain for the back sprocket but I’m not certain what pitch or type it is?
Would you be able to tell me?
There are 15 teeth on the sprocket.

I'm gathering information for the eventual preservation and recommissioning of my newly acquired Stanley DX. Does anyone have any information/pictures to reference on how the pit box may have been configured? Not everything is attached and much is likely not correct here - I know that. I would love to get some pictures of the other Tiller Coffin Nose on display at the Grandson Museum in Switzerland, the Model G in California, or other early 1905/1906 cars that may provide some help with this. Thanks in advance!

I need to get pictures with the floorboards tomorrow. It seems as though it may have been setup with separate handles for the hand pumps for fuel and water? Those longer pumps don't seem correct and I can't tell where the second engine water pump would have been either. This will be a fun puzzle.

Hi all,

I'm a young Australian, tool maker / machinist living down south in Tasmania, I've built many live steam locos and a 1/3rd scale Burrell traction engine, on the bench at the minute is a batch run of small quarry locos.

Any way I've taken a shine to full size stuff and struggling to find any traction engines to restore, I'm keen on doing a true full scale replica of the Stanley Vanderblit cup car, making every thing then getting it road registrable.

How ever I'm struggling to find ant information on these cars at all this site has been a wonderful help but I'm in need of information on every thing id like to compile / draw a full set of working drawings so others could also build this true replicas of this car.

is this stuff you have? would it be possible to obtain a copy? I'm more than happy to pay for it i understand that gathering this stuff takes years, either photocopies or electronic.

details on the 30 horse engine and boiler as well as key dimensions of the car, I've got very little info on any of the automatics - mind this site has given me heaps.

i would be more than happy to contribute every thing i do cad drawing and photos to this site.
